Raspberries

Raspberries are real summer fruits, but they are also enjoyed in the winter. They are available all year round. Raspberries are juicy and sweet, firm and uniform in colour. Just like blackberries the raspberry is made up of lots of little spheres, called ‘drupelets’.

This sweet fruit – which is related to the strawberry – is grown in the Netherlands but is also imported from countries including Spain and Mexico. We offer various packaging options.

Raspberries

Raspberries grow on canes and can be categorised into autumn-fruiting raspberries and summer-fruiting raspberries.

Summer raspberries produces canes without fruit one year and in the following summer these canes produce blossoms that turn into fruit. Autumn raspberries produce new canes every year that bear fruit in the autumn of the same year. Autumn-fruiting raspberries therefore avoid the risk of frost damage. Picking raspberries is delicate work as the fruits are very fragile and prone to damage easily. When the fruit is ripe it comes away from the crown.

Did you know that there are also yellow and orange raspberries?
