Fennel is a highly aromatic and richly flavoured plant with an aniseed taste, which is sometimes classed as a herb, and sometimes as a vegetable. Fennel grows above ground and distinguishes itself by its white bulb and green feathery leaves which develop into yellow flowers.
This vegetable can be eaten raw or cooked, and makes an excellent ingredient in salads, soups, cooked dishes, etc. It is also used to flavour tea. Not only does it have a pleasant taste, but fennel is also said to freshen the breath, and the anethole in fennel is used for medicinal purposes.
Levarht works closely with growers in the Netherlands, Spain and Italy.
Fennel grows outdoors in fields or in greenhouses. Fennel is ready for harvest after three months. The fennel bulb is cut away from the roots using a knife.
Fennel originates from Asia.
