Like many vegetables, radishes start as a seed. A tuber grows out of this below ground, with a bunch of leaves above. When the tubers are ripe they are harvested, washed and packed straightaway.
The radishes are grown in greenhouses, which means they have a finer structure than radishes grown in the field. Radishes are characterized by their pink/red colour and their peppery, sometimes slightly sharp taste.
