Physalis marmalade

500g physalis
200 ml water
1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
400g jam sugar/gelling sugar

Physalises are so pretty and that's why the most people use them as decoration. But they are also delicious to eat. You can eat them out of hand, but they are also great in salads and desserts or used to make marmalade.


  1. Peel, rinse and halve the physalis
  2. Place them in a saucepan and add the water and lemon juice
  3. Cover and simmer for about 5 minutes
  4. Add the jam sugar and boil for another 3 minutes
  5. Pour into warm, sterilised jars and seal them
